RANDY LINEBACH

Randy Linebach Lighthouse Award

A special sportsmanship trophy, The Randy Linebach Lighthouse Award, is presented annually by the Biloxi Race Producers in honor of Randy Linebach, Team Airborne, #24, an OSS founding member who lost his life during a test run in Biloxi in 2004.  "Smokin' the Sound", Biloxi, 2004 was the Offshore Super Series inaugural race.  It continues to hold the honor of the first race of each OSS season.  The Team Airborne spirit continues with OSS as its members Charlie Haimes, Ruth Mares, Mike Mares, Dennis Loch and Monica Bremer Loch all serve in OSS staff positions.

The perpetual trophy recipient is selected by vote of the OSS membership for the racer in any category demonstrating exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie.  The original Randy Linebach Lighthouse Award was displayed at Biloxi City Hall.  In 2006, Hurricane Katrina claimed it along with all but the spirit of Biloxi.  Race Producers Woody Bailey, Rusty David, Asher Travis and Gene Oswalt re-created the inspirational award, then boldly if not defiantly, placed it on the crane at waters edge for the 2007 "Smokin' the Sound" race.

In 2005, the award was presented to Billy Mauff, WHM Motorsports, by Leah Linebach, Randy's daughter. Hurricane Katrina preempted "Smokin' the Sound" in 2006.
  • In 2007 the award was presented to Steve Page of Page Racing,
  • 2008 to Randy Schleuss, Team Typhoon
  • 2009 to Ryan Beckley, DoublEdge Motorsports.
  • 2010 to  George Auriemma, Jr. Team IMCO.
